What is Dubsmash? It is an application which allows you to combine selfie videos with famous quotes. Users can pick an audio recording of a well-known quote from a film or song and then film themselves lip-syncing along to it. Users can upload sounds themselves or select from a list of audio clips uploaded by others. These include excerpts from popular TV shows or cult movies including Blackadder, Austin Powers, South Park, Superbad, and Saturday Night Live. There are also clips from popular chart hits, musicals, and even operas and after selecting an audio clip, users record their own video to play with the sound they have chosen and can then share the clip they have created via Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram or in a text message.
The app was created by a small team of German developers named Jonas Druppel, Roland Grenke and Daniel Taschik and they launched in November last year. And now Filipino’s patronize this app because they can add soundtracks to videos recorded on their phones often matching a clip of themselves performing a song or film scene with audio from the original.
