Typhoon Dodong Update May 9

Typhoon "DODONG" with international name "Nuol" has slowed down and maintained its strength said PAGASA on their latest news advisory on Saturday 5 am.

At 4 am on Saturday, the center of the typhoon was located 290 km East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

It moves West Northwest at 20 kph packing a maximum sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gusts of up to 195 kph.

Public storm signal number 2 was raised in provinces of Catanduanes, Polillo Island, Aurora, Isabela and Quirino. Ocean waves could reach 14 m in affected areas.

Sorsogon. Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Quezon , Cagayan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Apayao, Benguet and Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands in Luzon while Northern Samar, Eastern Samar in Visayas were the provinces placed under public storm warning signal 1.

Heavy to intense rain within the 300 km diameter of the typhoon is expected.

Dodong is forecast to make landfall over Isabela-Cagayan Area on Sunday early morning.

Stormy weather with rough to very rough seas will be experienced over Aurora, Quirino and Isabela while Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley will experienced rains with gusty winds. Ilocos region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over the rest of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Northwest will prevail over Ilocos region with slight to moderate seas.
